Weekend Recap 9/8/15

I hope you all had a wonderful labor day. There is something sad and exciting about Labor Day... it's sad that Summer ends and exciting that Fall (my favorite season) is officially beginning. This past weekend I was on duty, which basically consists of handing around the university and caring the duty phone with you everywhere. And by everywhere I mean in the bathroom when you're in the shower. I almost fell out of the tub before trying to get to that darn duty phone. Anyways, this past duty weekend was fantastic. It was spent with friends and Josh and I just feel like I am so well rested and ready for this upcoming work week.

Friday:
After handling some duty responsibilities, MaryEllen and I did some crafting! MaryEllen and I are walking buddies and we came up with some Fall crafts that we wanted to do while we were on duty this past weekend. So, on Friday afternoon we headed to the Dollar Store and Walmart to pick up some craft supplies.
We made four crafts together: FALL signs, little decorative jars, THANKS jars, and pumpkin toilet paper decorations. All together, I think we spent $35 on actual craft supplies for the both of us! But, we also get a little wild when we go shopping.

We really enjoyed the craft night and just being able to watch some chick flicks (Sleepless in Seattle & Just Friends) and enjoy a quiet evening without much fuss. Of course, we were on duty so we had to respond to various situations, but really we couldn't have asked for a better evening.
Saturday:
After sleep was disturbed quite a lot throughout the evening, I managed to make it to the first home football game! It was awesome watching a football game at the college level, even if it was Division II. We all split some french fries and enjoyed each other's company. I only made it until half-time until football-induced-nap started to kick in. I will probably regret one day always napping during football games, because now it always makes me tired! I came back and took a solid nap! Once I woke up and did some cleaning, I met Chris for dinner and then he came back to my apartment and we watched a movie. He also removed this massive spider from my apartment, which I greatly appreciated!
Sunday:
Once I got off duty, I drove down to Josh's for a Labor Day bbq! We shucked corn, grilled chicken, and played a lot of corn hole. I was only down there for a little while, but I enjoyed the time I got to spend with him! He is one of my best friends and I love our walks and talks.
I also got to bond with Radiating Sunshine's biggest fan, Josh's brother, Jonathan! While Josh was showering, Jonathan and I took a trip down memory lane and looked at this old blog I have here. We read old posts and commented on memories. I also enjoyed slurping down my delicious peach milkshake that Josh's dad made us! There are definite benefits to Josh living at his parents house... I love spending time with his family and I couldn't imagine these past two years without them in my life!
Even though I am old now, I loved having Monday off and a day off from work! It makes me feel like a little kid again, but it is wonderful getting a day off and knowing that I'm starting this week off on a Tuesday! Life is slowly starting to have rhythm again and I am so excited for Fall to officially get here.

DIY Holiday Bunting

This is probably one of the cheapest crafts you will ever find on Pinterest or on a blog because it cost me NO MONEY. But, seriously not a dime… only time. See what I did there? I should be come a poet. Anyways, getting back to this super cute craft that you can do in less than an hour that will add some Christmas decor to your home.

Instructions
1. find a brown paper bag (I used a shopping bag)
2. cut out eight 3.5 inch by 2 inch rectangles
3. either go online or draw letters onto the rectangles
4. leave one of the rectangles for a pretty shape of your choosing
5. color in the letters with a white colored pencil
6. using a ball point pen make two holes in the top corner of each rectangle
7. weave white yarn through the bunting
8. tape it up

And there ya go! Probably one of the cheapest and easiest crafts you'll ever do.
happy holidays

Crafty Week at TIP

So, each RC group gets to choose a name or a theme that they want their group to be called.... So, it should have come to no surprise that my girls would want to be minions.

RC13 is now called "Alex's Minions" which I have mixed feelings about! I loved "The Minions" but they said they wanted to be my minions. So, I guess I should be happy they wanted to include my name? hahaha.

So, to the left is our mural. Each girl wrote their name and put a little symbol... something that defines who they are.

{My symbol is at the bottom: peace, heart, cross, and smiley)

We also added quotes from Despicable Me... like "its so fluffy, I'm gonna die!" -- Agnes

One of the evening activities that I helped out with this week was brick painting! We had about 50 tipsters come and it went really well! And the bricks make perfect door stoppers.

Last night, I had my RC group night! RC group night is when my girls can miss evening activity (7pm-9:15pm) and they get to hang out with just our group.

So, what did we do?

We went to Pita Pit which was a hit {rhyme}! The girls are already kind of sick of the cafeteria food and Pita Pit accommodated our group very well!

Then, we came back to our floor and we colored the About Me sheets (below) and made friendship bracelets. The friendship bracelets are in minion colors to continue with our theme of Despicable Me!

All the girls did different friendship bracelets and I have string left over so I'm gonna teach them all how to do the one on the left!

<--- I made these About Me sheets based off of different ice breakers and activities I have done in the past!

After, we completed our friendship bracelets, sang our hearts out to Taylor Swift and talked for awhile the girls all went around in a circle and shared their About Me's!

It was so cool to learn more about the girls! I think I liked the 3 Words to Describe You section the most because they all used different adjectives... some adjectives I had to google hahaha.

I honestly loved this activity and I would totally recommend it for anyone who needs a fun ice breaker-ish and coloring activity!

It was a great RC Group night and crafty week.
Thanks for stopping by! Love y'all!
