Weekend Recap 9/29/14

So, this weekend was a total girl weekend! Oh my gosh, I don't even know where to begin. Between meeting my favorite author, seeing my aunt, watching Tricia get married, to hanging out with my favorite girlies, and spending time with Josh's mom and sister, it was the perfect depiction of a girl weekend.

Friday:

After taking the GRE... which, was awful, just saying! I met up with my Aunt Paula for a little chit chat before I met my favorite author Elin Hilderband. Oh my gosh, I can't even begin to tell you how amazing that was. It still doesn't even feel real! If you haven't read any of Elin's books, you're doing life wrong and you should seriously go get one of them. They are all amazing, and I'm so excited for her Christmas book, Winter Street, that is coming out in October.

When I got home from seeing Elin, I went to my friend Katie's and hung out with my favorite girls! I have barely been over there, and it was nice catching up with all of them.

And after all the festivities were done, Alex and I had a sleepover! We haven't had a sleepover in so long so it was great being able stay up and talk all night.

Saturday:

I went to my boss, Tricia's wedding! Let me just say she was a beautiful bride, and I loved her ceremony. Seriously though, I'm so happy for her, and I can't wait for her to get back from her honeymoon so I can give her her wedding present!

After the ceremony (I wasn't allowed to go to the reception -- you know the whole still in under grad thing), I went up to High Rock with some friends and we couldn't have asked for a better weather day! I'm just praying that next weekend is as beautiful as this weekend.

Sunday:

While the boyfriend was out in Pittsburgh at a Steelers game, I spent the day with his mom and little sister! His sister was crowned Pennsylvania Apple Princess last Spring, so she has a boat load of activities to go to! It is literally one of the coolest things, and I love fairs and walking around so it was the perfect day!

Is this a "sign" or what!?
We ended the day with some delicious homemade ice-cream! His mom and I both share a passion for coconut, so we both ordered the coconut chocolate almond chip ice cream and boy was it the best snack. I literally wish I had a pint to nibble on whenever I need to satisfy my sweet tooth (which, is basically all the time).

It was a wonderful girl weekend, and I wouldn't have asked for anything different.,, However, I'm so ready to see Josh tomorrow! I know it was just a week apart, but still I've been so used to having him by my side and making so many plans that I'm just really excited to see him for a little bit tomorrow.

Currently...

worried about... the future. As a Senior in College everyone is asking me the question, "what are you doing next?" and not knowing is the worst feeling. I'm slowly trying to figure it out. I'm applying to Grad Schools and Teach for America... but, I'm really praying to God and relying on Him to help me make these big decisions. It is way too much for me to decide alone and with His help and the support of my family, friends, and Josh I will be able to make the decision that is best for my future!

happy about... my senior year! Although I've been plagued with worry over the future I feel like I have still been able to do well in my classes and have fun. Every weekend I've gotten to do something exciting and I just am so happy with how life is turning out.

thinking about... going camping next weekend! I kind of wish it was this weekend but, I'm glad we're going next weekend so I can prepare, plan, and pack {my three favorite 'p' verbs}! But, seriously I'm so excited to go camping, make s'mores, and go hiking next weekend with Josh and friends.

learning about... so much! Lately, I've been studying for the GRE so I'm relearning High School math... but, as far as classes go I'm learning about ethics, operant conditioning, sign language, and how stress can effect the body.

looking forward to... Fall Break (t-minus 2 weeks) I can't wait to go home for a week and a) finish my grad school applications b) see family {especially Brooke} c) bake yummy things d) catch up on projects and any extra work! Fall Break can't come soon enough.

loving... I have been loving all the time Josh and I have been able to spend together. Of course this is the first weekend of the semester where we won't see each other so, I'm sad knowing that none of my weekend plans involve seeing him but, lately we've been able to do so much and have just spent so much quality time together.

listening to... Christian music x10! I've been seriously jamming out to my Christian playlist. Whether it is in the morning while I am getting ready or when I'm driving. My current go to song is: Fix My Eyes by for KING & COUNTRY... its a goodie.

hating... Senioritis; a few weeks back Josh diagnosed me with it and I'm battling hard to either conquer it or mask the side effects. I just can't help that all I want is one school night when I don't have homework to do, don't have any meetings, and I can just lay around in sweatpants and do whatever I want.

obsessing over... the fact that Grey's Anatomy has started back up! Last year I told myself 'after Cristina leaves I'm gonna stop watching the show'. Well turns out that I'm a liar because I'm so excited to watch this season. But, if it is too dramatic or something I'll stop {I promise}. Oh and I may get a chance to meet my favorite author Elin Hilderbrand tonight at one of her book signings! How cool is that! Not sure if I can go or not but, still knowing she will be in the same state as me is so exciting!

Birchbox September

So, I think the 'Fresh Paint' September 2014 Birchbox has been my favorite Birchbox so far! I just started receiving Birchboxes back in July but, this one definitely takes the cake so far.

I think my the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish skincare is my favorite featured product in this box! For starters the naturally active skincare came with the cutest mint cloth! This totally natural cleanser is made of rosemary, chamomile, cocoa butter, and eucalyptus essential oil. Recently I've been struggling with breakouts! I don't know whether its because I've just been really anxious about everything that has been going on but, the hot cloth cleanser routine has been helping! The only down side is that the full sized product is $24.50 and lets face it (pun totally intended), I don't have that kind of money to spend on face wash!

I also am loving the Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm! Usually in boxes or sample kits I get a really awful or tacky color but, I've been loving my pixi balm. It makes me feel a little bolder when I wear it and as far as color and stains go it's not over the top. I definitely think I'm going to try other pixi lip car products because one thing I absolutely love about this lip balm is that when I wear it, it never leaves behind a mark on a cup or on a straw. I know that probably seems like a ridiculous perk but, its the little things in life that make me happy!

The OI Shampoo by Davines is really nice! It makes my hair feel soft and definitely boosts the shine. The only issue is that it doesn't really have a smell... which, I guess is fine I just wish it has a little more of a fragrant smell! All and all it is really nice, just not something I would ever buy on my own!

I haven't had time to try the Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint yet! I'm still really dedicated to using the Dr. Jart+ BB Dis-a-Pore from the last birchbox, but I'll definitely try it soon!
I'm also just a little bit obsessed with the patterned box!
So, there you have it! I've been loving my Birchbox subscription and I think I'm becoming a little pack-ratty because I don't want to throw away any of the boxes! Maybe I'll start collecting them and use them for christmas presents or something. Anyways, have a wonderful day and week.

Blogger Bliss: Just a Few Favorites

So, today I'm linking up with one of my favorite bloggers, Meg @ Borrowed Heaven for Blogger Bliss! A once a month link up about things that make us blissful and happy. So, Meg wrote about her favorite things for this month and I think I'll do the same!

Favorite Song: Fix My Eyes by for KING and COUNTRY
Check out the lyrics, here!

Favorite Youtube Video: Hunger Games Mockingjay Trailer
Alright, I know that isn't exactly a youtube video but, I seriously have been
watching this trailer every day! I'm so excited to watch the movie in November and
I'm even more excited that Josh is going to go with me! On another note about movies I will
most definitely be seeing: Gone Girl, Love Rosie, and The Best of Me!

Favorite Pandora Station: Sweater Weather
I don't listen and (or) use pandora very often but, during some
RA Programs Sweater Weather has been my station of choice!

Favorite Sports Team: The Orioles!
I'm so proud of the Orioles for playing so well this year! I'm not sure if you're a baseball fan but, they have been doing extremely well! We are currently 1st in the AL Eastern Division with a record of 94-63 and they are headed to the playoffs. It has been way too long since us Orioles fans got to watch our team succeed the way these guys are doing currently! Keep up the great work :)

Favorite Fall Moment: I love Fall!
And now that Fall is pretty much here I am really excited to get wrapped up in my new navy blue scarf and snuggle on really cold and crisp days! The leaves are even starting to change here on my mountain home and I couldn't be more excited. I love Summer and the warmth the sun brings, but I wouldn't give up Fall for anything!

Anyways, thanks Meg for the great blog link up! It is always nice to remember what
brings you happiness when you're in a middle of a long week.

Weekend Recap 9/22/14

Another beautiful weekend has come and gone! When I write these posts on Sunday nights and review all of the wonderful things I got to do or see, I can't help but feel so incredibly blessed. I'm so lucky that despite the craziness of school and grad school prep, I still get to get out and do so many fun things like...

Friday night:

Josh and I went down with our school to Baltimore for an Orioles vs. Red Sox game! It was like all of our friends were at the game, and we got to meet up with one of my favorite couples, Amanda and DJ! I've been great friends with Amanda for years, and I love DJ. We are currently planning a camping trip for two weekends from now, and I can't wait to just hang out and hike around with them. Josh and I also met up with my best friend from High School, Caitlin, and her boyfriend. I haven't seen her in a few months, so it was really nice and convenient that all of my favorite people just decided to go to an Orioles game on the same day our school was doing a trip!

On a related note - the Orioles have been doing an incredible job! I am so proud of them for clinching our division, and it has been so long (practically my entire life) since I've seen them do so well. It is really exciting for all of us.

Josh and I were four rows back from the field, and we sat in the left outfield behind third base! It definitely beat the nose-bleed student tickets that we almost got! Anyways, I love going to baseball games with Josh. I'm trying really hard to learn the rules of the game, and I love it when he shares little facts with me... like Camden Yards was the first modern modeled ball park of this new generation of games. He has a wealth of knowledge and makes every game so interesting.
After class on Friday, I decided I needed a little me time so, I painted my nails while watching The Office, and it was just so relaxing! I don't even remember the last time I painted my nails, and they were seriously bent out of shape. So starting this week, I'm going to work really hard on making sure I maintain them and keep them looking pretty.

Saturday:
Was probably the best day of the weekend... I'm sorry I didn't take any pictures, but I want to cherish Saturday without sharing it with the blogosphere. So, in short Saturday was perfect. I got to hang out and play beach volleyball with some friends, went to church, had my favorite meal (grilled hot dogs and barbecue food) and spent time with Josh and his family. It was a beautiful night spent with my favorite guy and his family... oh and oreo blizzards from Dairy Queen!

Sunday:
After getting home really late on Saturday night, I slept in and had a relaxing morning. I then met up with my friend Kathryn (we "studied" abroad together) and we went to a local covered bridge, called the Sachs Covered Bridge, in Gettysburg, PA! We were those obnoxious girls having a photo shoot out on this beautiful pretty much summer day, and it was so much fun! Kathryn is a photographer and has the nicest camera so it was such a treat for her to ask me to join her. Here is a sneak peak of some of the photos she took! They came out so nicely, and I can't wait to do some blog remodeling with them.
If you're looking for a great photographer or just like looking at pretty pictures
of scenery and all things lovely than please go check out her page, Kathryn Franke Photography

There are only a few covered bridges left in our region, and I'm so glad they have been restoring them and making them beautiful landmarks. When I got home from our photography adventure, I got to watch a little bit of the Ravens game before I had an RA In Service! The In Service was focused on team building activities, and it was nice to get reunited with the RA fam. Then, I had a dinner date with my best friend Alex and had rounds and a baking night with my RAs.

I have been able to squeeze in so many fun things to do on the weekends and I have been loving my senior year. Next week I take the GRE, so if y'all could keep me and my math skills in your prayers that would be so lovely. Have a great week :)

Weekend Recap 9/15/14

So, it looks like I am turning into a Weekend Recap blogger now... ugh that feels so weird for me to even type out, but I can't begin to describe to you life as a senior in college. I've been so busy working on my capstone projects, applying to grad schools, working in Res. Life, and trying to live life to the fullest. I usually pride myself on being able to balance everything, but recently I feel like I am just barely keeping afloat, and unfortunately that means Radiating Sunshine has been being neglected! Hopefully once I establish a routine and life calms down, I'll be able to get back to one of the things I love the most... blogging.

But, seeing as it is Monday and another great weekend has come and gone, I decided to write a brief recap of all of the fun things I did this weekend:

Wednesday night: College night with some of my favorite friends!

Thursday: In between work and classes I decided to head to the mall for some retail therapy. I just really needed to get some new shoes and jeans, and then things were on sale and you know how that works!
I'm getting ready to retire the jellies for the year! No worries they'll be back in the Spring!
Friday:

Friday was a glorious day! After the Ravens victory over the Steelers I got to parade Josh around in a Ravens T-Shirt all day... a few months back we made a bet that whatever team lost would have to wear apparel of the other team. But really, what is better than a Ravens win? Seeing your die hard Steelers fan/ boyfriend wear a Ravens t-shirt all day!

On Friday night after work, bible study, and some much needed homework time... Josh and I went to see The Fault in Our Stars. Let me just say, I cried like a baby. We brought tissues to be prepared and all of that, but since I had read the book I thought I could keep it together for the most part. Well, turns out that my hold-back-the-tears crying ability skills need to be sharpened because as soon as I started to sniffle, it was like the flood gates came crashing down, and I cried for the last thirty minutes of the movie and the walk home. But, I did determine that although I might be a little overly emotional, if you didn't think that The Fault in Our Stars was sad you might have some serious emotional issues.... I mean come on that story... it just hurts... so badly.
I think purple might be his color? Disclaimer: I made him smile!
Saturday:

Was a long-but-wonderful-and-fun day! I decided to give Josh a break from driving all the time so I showed up at his house around 9:00am so we could get back to school and work the registration table for Family Fest. Family Fest is an annual event my college hosts where all the families of students are invited to come on campus and go to a bunch of different events.

Well, as I said earlier, Josh and I ran the registration table and for two hours we handed out tickets and regurgitated the same "due to weather blah blah event has been moved inside" line over and over again! Despite the redundancy of the job, I absolutely loved it! I'm kind of a Higher Ed/ talking to parents freak, and it was just so nice to meet so many families and to help them have a great experience at Family Fest. Plus, Josh and I got to work together as a team to keep the line moving, and it was just so nice!

After Family Fest duties ended, we went to one of my old resident's Homerun Derby events at the softball field, and then we went for a run. We've been trying to run more regularly as a couple, and Josh even told me my endurance is improving. I always feel so bad when we run because I feel like I'm holding him back, but it is nice to know that even if it is only by a minute or so I am actually getting better.

Saturday was also date night! After church we headed out to dinner. We ate at a restaurant called BJ's Brewhouse, and it was absolutely delicious, as usual. Then, we just drove around, messed with the radio until Dirt by Florida Georgia Line came on, got frosties, and just enjoyed each other's company. We also got tickets to an evening Family Fest event, so we got to see Daniel Martin magic-sh! He did some seriously crazy things, and I am still mind blown about how he did some of the things he did.

Sunday:

Came way too early and soon! For starters, I was totally wiped out from the night before. So waking up at 7:00am was literally torture. But, I'm glad I did because I got to see my parents and go to the Honors Induction Ceremony. After the ceremony/reception my parents and I went to a local french restaurant for brunch, and I got to teach them the things I'm learning in Sign Language! It was nice being able to catch up with them and just be goofy.

This Cafe Latte was the only thing that got me through that long homework filled day! But, the good news is that I finished my Ethics paper, did my Experimental Learning quizzes for the week, studied for my Ethics exam tomorrow and freaked out about everything else I have to do this week and made an elaborate hour by hour schedule. So, all and all it was a good and productive night.
