Mainely Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is in 4 days and I am SO EXCITED.

I'm excited for multiple reasons...

My sis is coming to visit me at college tomorrow night! She hasn't slept over at all this semester so I'm so excited to spend some much needed time with her. On Tuesday, she is going to go to my Philosophy class with me and I'm looking forward to hearing what her thoughts are on that class!

Because of RA duties I can't leave school till Tuesday after 7pm, so we are just gonna kill time by Christmas shopping at the Outlets and maybe we will even see a movie!

After, my RA duties are fulfilled... We're going to go to my grandma's house and visit and see some extended family members and meet up with my parents! It will be a busy day but I can't wait to spend it with my family.

Then, FINALLY on Wednesday morning around 4am I'll be waking up and getting on a plane to go to Maine for Thanksgiving!! My boyfriend's great grandmother is turning 100! Yes, I said it 100 YEARS OLD! So, I'm flying up to meet his family and spend the holiday up there and celebrate with her.

I'm bummed I'll be missing out on spending time with my family for Thanksgiving...but  I'm so thankful I have them and they seriously mean the world to me. So even though I'll be a few states away I will definitely be thinking about them!

Talk about an excited week. I only have one exam and a lot of RA stuff to get through and then I'm homebound kind of!

What are your plans for Thanksgiving??

November/ December Bulletins

For the months, November and December I decided to go with a winter theme!!

My main bulletin board is called 'Baby Its Cold Outside'. It also has an interactive passive program portion "What's Your Favorite Winter Memory"... my girls can write on it about their favorite memories. So far, 4 people have already written on it! On each of the slides there is some activity to do  in the winter season. For example: building snowmen, skiing, snowboarding etc! There is also a history behind the activity and or random facts. On the right of the board, there are some nice winter pictures and throughout the board there are snowflakes!

For my door decorations I decided to go with cups of hot chocolate! They are really simple and definitely bring warm and happy feelings.

Hope you're having a fabulous day :)

Organizing in College

A couple of weeks ago I decided I would re-organize my drawers and closet. My old system was just not working for me, and I found that I was just throwing shirts into drawers and not maintaining them. In a dorm or any small space, storage is limited so you really need to be practical when it comes to how you organizing your clothes.

I have two tips that will definitely help you save on space:

1) For Closets: Water-falling clothes! I bought these great hangers from Bed, Bath, and Beyond back in August and they have saved on a lot of space.

The Real Simple Slimline Hangers with built in hooks come in a set of 50. They are around $30 per pack; but Bed, Bath, and Beyond is always having exclusive deals if you are on a budget!

I love Real Simple products! And this handy dandy product has saved me a lot of
space in my closet. Which is definitely needed.

2) For Drawers: Folding shirts vertically is a great way to store clothing. For one reason, it allows easy access to clothing and two, you can see all the different colors in the drawer.

So if you don't have a lot of space in your drawers this is the best way to organize your shirts. Not to mention by folding carefully you can avoid unnecessary wrinkles in your shirts.

Isaiah 41:10

fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous
right hand.

This week, well lets just say I want to light my to-do list on fire and then never leave my bed. I have literally a TON of work, including a 12-15 page paper on Stress and Its Affects on College Students due tomorrow-- how appropriate. The event I have coordinated Dodge Ball for Cameroon is on Wednesday... I'm on rounds tonight and my bulletin board and door decorations are due Thursday. I'm stretched to the limit and am so overwhelmed with all my school work and other activities...

but this morning I woke up to my 9am Sociology class being canceled, to my Mod Civ professor bringing our class brownies and getting a great grade on my exam, and I finished all of my RA points a month before the semester is over too.

Alls I can say is that God is seriously looking out for me and blessed me with a wonderful morning. So, if you are feeling a bit stressed out with everything you have going on, take a deep breathe and remember God is with you and he will strengthen you.

Today. Today will be a great day.

30 Days of Being Thankful

I saw this thing on Facebook where each day you put up a post or status about what you're thankful for that day! I love this idea because I think its so important to express what you're thankful for and I have such a blessed life and so much to be thankful for.

So... Instead of posting everyday I figured I would put it all into one post and update it every now and then.

day one: My family, without them my life would not be the same and I am forever grateful.

day two: My boyfriend, he is the best person I know and he makes me a better person.

day three: My faith. I'm so glad I know Jesus and he is in my life.

day four: Breakfast. Had breakfast at a diner with my parents this morning and it is such
a simple pleasure that you can eat at any time during the day.

day five: My education. Although today was particularly challenging with my work load I am
so thankful for all the opportunities I have received.

day six: democracy. I'm glad I live in a country where I have the freedom to vote.

day seven: my friends, who are always there for me and I have so many memories with.

day eight: My health. I am so blessed that I have access to a healthy lifestyle and medicines.

day nine: my job, both RA and back at home! I'm blessed to be on great teams and do something I enjoy!

day ten: I'm thankful for this beautiful world I live in.

day eleven: I'm thankful for all of those who have sacrificed their safety and life to defend my country.

day twelve: I'm thankful for today. This week is going to be one of the busiest weeks of my semester and I'm thankful for all the blessings I have received today.

day thirteen: I'm thankful for technology! Its crazy to think how advanced this world has become and how easy it is to right a twelve page paper without even having to open a book.

day fourteen: I'm thankful for everyone who came out and supported Dodge Ball for Cameroon! We raised a good amount of money and everyone had a great time!

day fifteen: I'm thankful for my new connection with God through Philosophy! I am currently reading Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy and it has opened my eyes to so many things!

day sixteen: I'm thankful for music and how inspirational it can be.

day seventeen: I'm thankful for my extended family. I love them all so dearly and they made a huge difference in my childhood.

day eighteen: I'm thankful for spending the day with my parents just watching football and studying for an exam. It was so nice just to spend some quality time with them.

day nineteen: For my sister, although we don't get along most of the time, she is still my rock.

day twenty: I'm thankful I got a great grade on my Philosophy Exam! I know that sounds super dorky but I am so excited!!!

day twenty-one: I'm thankful for my safe travels up to Maine and my boyfriend's wonderful family. Today has been an excellent day and I seriously couldn't have asked for a better day with wonderful people.

day twenty-two: Happy Thanksgiving! As you can see I'm thankful for sooo much!

day twenty-three: I'm thankful for this wonderful time in Maine. This break has provided some much needed relaxation.

day twenty-four: I'm so thankful for all of the fun opportunities I have been able to participate in. Today I helped celebrate a woman's 100th birthday and it was such a beautiful day!

day twenty-five: I'm thankful for safe travels. I flew home from Maine and got back to school with no issues.

day twenty-six: I'm thankful for the fact that my society was able to put together a bunch of bags of Hurricane Sandy Relief. I'm glad I can give back in this way.

day twenty-seven: I'm thankful for being surrounded by such great mentors!

day twenty-eight: I'm thankful for being able to talk to my dad today! He is on a business trip and it was so nice getting to FaceTime him!

day twenty-nine: I'm thankful for my Catholic education. I'm so blessed to go to a University where we can talk openly about Jesus and God and not break any rules.

day thirty: I'm thankful for all the blessings in my life. I feel like I have already said this but I am truly blessed for everything and everyone in my life.
